New Delhi: The elections to the Special Committees of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) concluded on Monday, with the BJP securing a dominant win by clinching the posts of Chairman and Vice Chairman in 10 out of 12 committees.
On the occasion, Leader of the House in MCD, Shri Pravesh Wahi, extended his congratulations to the newly elected members and urged them to prioritize public welfare and civic development in the national capital.
The election proceedings saw the presence of Delhi Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, Deputy Mayor Shri Jai Bhagwan Yadav, Standing Committee Chairperson Smt Satya Sharma, and other senior party leaders.
Mayor Singh, congratulating the winners, said:
“With the formation of these special committees, we are poised to achieve new milestones in Delhi’s civic development.”
Leader of the House Pravesh Wahi criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for what he termed a “deliberate delay” in the committee formation process over the past two and a half years. He said:
“Due to AAP’s monopoly and obstructionist politics, the creation of these committees was stalled. Now that they are in place, we can finally focus on constructive governance and civic improvements.”
Wahi further thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Delhi BJP State President Virendra Sachdeva for their continuous guidance and support.
He called upon the newly elected committee chairpersons and vice-chairpersons to actively engage with citizens, ensure timely redressal of complaints, and work collaboratively for a cleaner, better, and more responsive civic administration.
“Under BJP’s leadership, MCD will continue working towards delivering the best civic services in Delhi,” Wahi emphasized.
