CCTV, UPI and WhatsApp Trail Leads Delhi Police to Punjab Truck-Dismantling Godown

Date:

New Delhi: CCTV footage, UPI transactions and WhatsApp leads helped North Delhi police trace an alleged interstate truck-theft gang to a godown in Punjab where stolen vehicles were dismantled, police said.

The district’s Anti-Auto Theft Squad arrested three accused and worked out four truck-theft cases, according to an October 9 update by DCP North Delhi. Police also reported recovering parts of a truck stolen from Gulabi Bagh from the Punjab godown.

Stolen in Delhi, dismantled in Punjab

Police described the alleged operation as a cross-state chain: trucks were stolen in Delhi and then taken to Punjab for dismantling. The investigation combined footage with digital-payment and messaging leads to establish the trail to the premises.

The recovery of parts from the Gulabi Bagh truck connected the godown to a Delhi theft case, according to police. Further investigation is underway into the alleged gang and the cases linked to it.
