Revised order to cover 11 officers
The government said its October 5 order had assigned current duty charge of the Additional DCP post to 12 officers of the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Service (DANIPS).
The order is being modified in respect of Bhagat and will be reissued for the 11 remaining officers, according to the statement.
Proposal initiated on August 25, government says
The government said the proposal to assign the additional duty charge had been initiated on August 25, before what it described as the present set of events. The orders were issued after approval on October 5.
It clarified that current duty charge is a temporary arrangement carrying no financial benefit. Officers receiving the assignment cannot exercise the statutory duties of the regular incumbents, the statement said.
The government’s announcement referred to allegations of harassment of women journalists and Bhagat’s request to await the inquiry’s satisfactory conclusion.
