New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu hoisted the Tricolour at Lok Niwas on India’s 80th Independence Day and called on the national capital to lead the country’s journey towards an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat@2047.
In a post on X, Sandhu said it was encouraging to see Delhi residents celebrate the occasion with a sense of togetherness, belonging and shared pride in the country.
The Lieutenant Governor paid homage to India’s freedom fighters and remembered their sacrifices, saying they continue to inspire generations.
Sandhu said that while honouring their legacy, people should renew their resolve guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Saptdhara and the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.
He said Delhi needs to lead the nation’s journey towards self-reliance and the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Referring to his association with the capital, Sandhu said Delhi had been an inseparable part of his life’s journey and reiterated his commitment to its progress.
Addressing the youth, whom he described as the real drivers of the future, the Lieutenant Governor called for building a Delhi where every citizen feels safe, valued and empowered.
