New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Friday said 2,321 FIRs have been registered against motorists for wrong-side driving, while the number of waterlogging hotspots in the national capital has reduced from 169 to 65 during the ongoing monsoon season.
In a post on X, Sandhu said he chaired a review meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar and senior officers of the Delhi Traffic Police to assess traffic management and enforcement across the city, with special focus on the monsoon season, the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, and preparations for Independence Day.
Sandhu said enforcement against dangerous traffic violations has intensified, with action against wrong-side driving increasing by 113 per cent. He added that stricter measures are also being taken against unauthorised parking.
He also noted that citizen participation under Project Sangam continues to strengthen local traffic management, while the reduction in waterlogging hotspots reflects progress in addressing monsoon-related challenges.
The Lieutenant Governor said visible policing and active community participation are critical to tackling traffic congestion, violations and encroachments. He reiterated that there would be zero compromise in ensuring safe, disciplined and seamless mobility across the national capital.
