New Delhi: Ahead of the kite-flying season, Delhi Police has urged the public not to manufacture, sell, purchase, possess or use Chinese manja, warning that its use is completely prohibited under law.
In a post on X, Delhi Police said the manufacture, sale, possession, purchase and use of Chinese manja for flying kites is banned under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
The police said violating the prohibition is a punishable offence, carrying a penalty of up to five years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to ₹1 lakh, or both.
Delhi Police also appealed to citizens to immediately report anyone found selling, buying or using Chinese manja to the nearest police station or by calling the emergency helpline 112.
The advisory has been issued to promote public safety and ensure compliance with environmental protection laws.
