Revenge Killing Rocks Delhi as 24-Year-Old Man Killed Near Chhatarpur Metro Station

Date:

New Delhi: In a shocking incident that unfolded in broad daylight on Thursday, a 24-year-old man was shot dead near Chhatarpur Metro Station, allegedly by two assailants on a motorcycle, in what police believe to be an act of revenge stemming from a longstanding feud.

The victim, identified as Arun Lohia, was traveling in his SUV with his father, Ramveer Lohia, when the attack occurred around 1 PM near CDR Chowk. According to police reports, the father and son were returning from a court hearing related to an attempted murder case involving Arun.

As they drove in their black Scorpio, two men on a motorcycle signaled for them to stop. “They approached the driver’s side window and opened fire at Arun,” stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan.

Witnesses reported that the assailants brandished two firearms and unleashed a barrage of gunfire directed at Arun. In a desperate attempt to protect his son, Ramveer Lohia exited the vehicle to confront the attackers, but they managed to flee the scene. Police sources indicated that at least ten rounds were fired, leaving Arun severely injured. An inspector from the Delhi Traffic Police, who happened to be nearby, rushed him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Investigations revealed that the motive behind the attack was rooted in an old enmity linked to a property dispute. Both the victim and the assailants hailed from the same village, and it was reported that Arun had previously fired upon one of the attackers last year.

In the aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement cordoned off the area and deployed multiple police teams to the scene. They have since obtained CCTV footage capturing the incident, which has left onlookers and commuters in a state of shock and fear.

“I heard gunfire near my shop, so I rushed over to find out what had happened. I learned that a man was shot by several individuals on a motorcycle who then fled the scene. Although the area was filled with panic due to the shooting, I have complete faith that the police will apprehend the suspects. The victim was in a black car,” reported a witness.

The police have stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
