Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh Slams AAP Over Ad Hoc Panel Allegations, Labels Party “Anti-Dalit” and Disrespectful of Constitution

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh on Tuesday strongly refuted the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) accusations regarding the constitution of ad hoc committees in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), particularly those linked to Scheduled Caste welfare and reservation implementation. The Mayor described AAP as an “anti-Dalit” party that “neither respects the law nor the Constitution.”

“If AAP was genuinely concerned about ad hoc committees,” Singh stated, “why didn’t they constitute them during their 2.5-year tenure in power?”

Singh alleged that AAP deliberately blocked the formation of these essential committees during their rule and is now making baseless political allegations to stall the process further. “Their opposition is not against the committee but against any action that follows legal and constitutional procedures,” he remarked.

He added that the House of the Municipal Corporation had duly passed the proposals for ad hoc and special committee members in accordance with set rules and regulations. Singh also pointed to AAP’s “anti-Dalit mindset” by recalling how the party deliberately delayed the mayoral election reserved for a Scheduled Caste candidate, effectively shortening the term of a Dalit mayor.

The Mayor accused AAP of playing disruptive politics. “Their strategy is simple — neither function themselves, nor let anyone else work,” he said.

“This party’s conduct,” Singh concluded, “betrays its disregard for constitutional values and democratic norms. Their politics are rooted in obstruction, not public service.”
