New Delhi: Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Thursday held a review meeting with senior PWD officials at the Delhi Secretariat to assess the status of drains under the department ahead of the monsoon season.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the condition of major drains, accumulation of silt, recurring waterlogging-prone areas and locations where cleaning operations have not been completed on time.
The Minister directed officials to intensify desilting and maintenance work to ensure smooth drainage flow and minimise the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall.
Special emphasis was also laid on strengthening the CCTV monitoring system to improve real-time supervision of field operations and ensure accountability in execution of assigned responsibilities.
According to officials, the enhanced monitoring mechanism is aimed at ensuring that on-ground work related to drain cleaning and monsoon preparedness is visible and effectively implemented across the city.
The Delhi government has been conducting regular infrastructure reviews ahead of the monsoon to tackle recurring civic issues such as waterlogging and drainage overflow in vulnerable areas.
