Sonam Wangchuk Ends Hunger Strike After PM Modi’s Statement on Paper Leak Bill

Gurugram/New Delhi, July 24: Activist Sonam Wangchuk has ended his hunger strike at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on introducing legislation for fast-track courts and stricter punishment in paper leak cases.

The fast was called off in the presence of Union Minister J.P. Nadda and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh.

Prime Minister Modi had announced that the Union government would place before the Union Cabinet a draft Bill providing for fast-track courts and stringent penalties to curb examination paper leaks, with the aim of introducing the legislation in Parliament at the earliest.
