New Delhi: As part of heightened security preparations ahead of Republic Day 2026, the Delhi Police on Tuesday conducted a massive public awareness programme across the national capital under its flagship ‘Eyes and Ears’ Scheme, aimed at strengthening citizen participation in crime prevention.
The initiative focused on encouraging residents to stay alert, vigilant and proactive, while emphasising the importance of timely information sharing and collective responsibility in ensuring safer neighbourhoods.
According to police officials, around 10,000 representatives from different sections of society actively participated in the programme, which was organised simultaneously at 199 police stations across Delhi. Participants included resident welfare association members, market associations, civil defence volunteers, youth groups and other community stakeholders.

Police officers interacted directly with citizens, urging them to immediately report any suspicious activity and reinforcing the message: “See Something, Say Something.” The campaign aims to convert alert citizens into the first line of defence against crime, especially during sensitive national events.
Senior officers said the ‘Eyes and Ears’ Scheme is a key pillar of community policing, helping law-enforcement agencies receive real-time inputs while fostering trust and cooperation between police and the public.
The programme forms part of a series of security-focused initiatives being rolled out by Delhi Police in the run-up to Republic Day, with a clear focus on smart policing through smart citizens.
