New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to increase the daily processing capacity of its Sangli Mess composting plant to 2,000–2,500 kg from the current 600–700 kg, according to an official update on Wednesday.
The council said it plans to add manpower and install additional wire-mesh composting rounders to reach the higher capacity. The expansion is planned; NDMC has not said that it is complete or provided a completion date.

The announcement followed a review of composting facilities during a visit to the Sangli Mess plant by Rajiv Jain, NDMC Adviser (Solid Waste Management). The council said the plant currently processes wet and horticulture waste.
NDMC said decentralised processing is intended to reduce the amount of waste transported to landfills and help it meet its goal of processing all wet and horticulture waste generated across council areas.
