New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council issued 15 notices to West Kidwai Nagar residents on October 30 over failure to segregate household waste, citing violations of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
The council said segregation at source is mandatory for all residents, irrespective of their official status or position, and called for strict compliance with the requirements.

The waste-segregation guidance accompanying the announcement identifies four separate streams: wet waste, dry waste, sanitary waste and hazardous or special-care waste, using green, blue, red and black bins respectively.
The guidance lists kitchen scraps under wet waste, paper and plastic bottles under dry waste, and used diapers and sanitary pads under sanitary waste. Discarded batteries, expired medicines and used needles are among the items listed for special-care waste.
