Mukherjee Nagar bomb threat hoax: UPSC aspirant held in Kanpur

Date:

New Delhi: The Mukherjee Nagar bomb threat was found to be a hoax, and a 23-year-old UPSC aspirant has reportedly been apprehended in Kanpur.

The accused, identified as Suraj Verma, is said to be the complainant’s former roommate and fellow UPSC aspirant. The caller allegedly claimed links to an organisation based in Lahore and threatened bomb blasts in Delhi.

The threatening call was allegedly made from a landline at a relative’s home in Kanpur. Verma is accused of changing his voice to create the impression of a cross-border threat and prank his former roommate.

Technical surveillance and coordination between states reportedly helped Mukherjee Nagar police trace and apprehend him within 48 hours. Further investigation is underway.
