MCD Suspends Two Shahdara North Zone Officials Amid Vigilance Probe, Corruption Questions Surface

Date:

New Delhi: In a significant administrative action, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has suspended two officials posted in the Shahdara North Zone with immediate effect following a vigilance inquiry, intensifying concerns over alleged corruption and irregularities within the civic body.

According to an official order issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Shahdara (North) Zone, Harender Kumar (SS/SNZ) and S. Sisa Kumar (SI/SNZ) have been placed under suspension pending investigation.

The order states that both officials will not be allowed to leave headquarters without prior permission during the suspension period and will receive subsistence allowance as per rules.

The development has triggered fresh questions over possible links to illegal construction activities, corruption, and alleged collusion within the system, especially as residents across Delhi have repeatedly raised complaints regarding unchecked unauthorised constructions and lack of enforcement action.

The suspension has once again brought focus on long-standing allegations of corruption in civic administration, with citizens questioning how illegal structures continue to emerge in multiple areas despite regular monitoring mechanisms.

Public voices are now demanding a transparent investigation, strict action against those found guilty, and greater accountability within the MCD system.

Observers say the issue goes beyond suspension of two officials and reflects deeper concerns about systemic failures in urban governance and enforcement in the national capital.
