New Delhi, June 30: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has extended the deadline for availing a 10 per cent rebate on lump-sum payment of property tax for the Financial Year 2026–27 from June 30 to July 31, 2026, Mayor Pravesh Wahi announced on Tuesday.
The decision has been taken to enable a larger number of property owners to benefit from the rebate and to provide additional time to taxpayers who were unable to complete the payment within the earlier deadline.
Announcing the extension, Mayor Pravesh Wahi said the Corporation remains committed to making civic services more citizen-friendly while encouraging timely payment of property taxes.
He said many taxpayers could not make the payment before the original deadline due to various reasons. Keeping their convenience in mind, the MCD has decided to extend the rebate period by one month.
The Mayor said the extension would provide financial relief to sincere taxpayers while also helping the civic body improve revenue collection. Higher tax compliance, he added, would strengthen the Corporation’s ability to invest in civic infrastructure and improve essential public services across Delhi.
According to the MCD, the additional revenue generated through timely property tax payments will support development works related to sanitation, public health, civic infrastructure, public amenities, and other municipal services in the national capital.
Appealing to property owners, Pravesh Wahi urged all eligible taxpayers to utilise the extended deadline by paying their property tax in a lump sum on or before July 31, 2026, and avail themselves of the 10 per cent rebate.
The Mayor also clarified that there is little possibility of any further extension beyond July 31. He advised citizens not to wait until the last moment and instead complete the payment well in advance to avoid inconvenience.
Expressing confidence in Delhi residents, Wahi said citizens have consistently supported the city’s development through timely payment of taxes and hoped they would continue to contribute towards strengthening civic services by taking advantage of the extended rebate period.
