MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar Inspects Shahdara South Zone, Directs Time-Bound Development Works and Comprehensive Market Redevelopment Plan

Date:

New Delhi, June 30: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Shahdara South Zone, reviewing ongoing development projects, civic infrastructure and public amenities, and directed officials to expedite all works while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Accompanied by Shahdara South Zone Deputy Commissioner Vairokpam Punshiba Singh and other senior officials, the Commissioner reviewed the progress of multiple infrastructure projects and stressed the need for timely execution and regular monitoring.

The inspection began at the old Zonal Office building in Vishwas Nagar, where Khirwar reviewed the ongoing construction work. He instructed officials to closely monitor every stage of the project and ensure that the construction is completed within the stipulated timeline without compromising on quality.

Later, the Commissioner visited Kadkadduma Market, where he directed officials to prepare a comprehensive master plan for the market’s redevelopment.

He said the redevelopment plan should incorporate all key civic infrastructure components, including roads, street lighting, sewer networks, green belts, parking facilities, drainage systems and other essential public amenities to transform the market into a modern, well-planned commercial hub that meets the needs of traders and visitors alike.

The Commissioner also inspected Rishabh Vihar Market in Anand Vihar to assess the existing civic facilities and the status of ongoing development works. He instructed the concerned officials to take immediate corrective measures wherever deficiencies were identified.

During the final leg of the inspection, Khirwar visited the Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Processing Site at Kadkadi Mor.

He directed officials to ensure that the existing site continues to function in an organised manner and strictly adheres to all prescribed environmental and technical standards until an alternative site becomes operational.

The Commissioner further instructed officials to maintain strict compliance with norms relating to cleanliness, public safety, dust control and scientific waste management so that nearby residents do not face inconvenience and environmental safeguards are fully observed.

Reiterating the Corporation’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure, Khirwar said the MCD’s objective is to provide citizens with better, modern civic amenities through transparent, time-bound and high-quality execution of development projects.

He directed officials to conduct regular project reviews and ensure effective and speedy implementation of all ongoing works across the Shahdara South Zone.
