Delhi Government Says Water-Bill Relief Has Benefited Over 4.39 Lakh Families

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government said on Tuesday that its late-payment surcharge waiver scheme for water consumers had benefited more than 4.39 lakh families, while helping recover over ₹484 crore in original dues.

In an October 6 update on X, the government reported that more than ₹11,000 crore in late-payment surcharge and over ₹1,500 crore in penal interest had been waived under the LPSC scheme.

Relief on additional charges, recovery of original dues

The government described the scheme as an opportunity for consumers to settle old water dues without the burden of additional charges. Its update distinguished the surcharge and penal interest waived from the original dues recovered.
