Delhi Customs Destroys 165 Kg of Seized Drugs Valued at ₹515 Crore

NEW DELHI: Delhi Customs destroyed approximately 165 kg of seized narcotics valued at around ₹515 crore on October 7, including about 25 kg of cocaine that accounted for nearly three-quarters of the total estimated value, the department said.

The consignment comprised approximately 140 kg of hydroponic weed valued at ₹140 crore and 25 kg of cocaine valued at ₹375 crore. The destruction was carried out by its High-Level Drug Disposal Committee in accordance with prescribed statutory procedures and safeguards.

The exercise was supervised by Arvind Saran, Commissioner of Customs (Airport & General). Shankar Prasad Sarma, Additional Commissioner of Customs (Disposal), chaired the committee, with its members and concerned officers participating. Joint Commissioner Neetish Verma was also present.

Separately, Delhi Customs reported 89 drug-seizure cases at Indira Gandhi International Airport between April and September 2025. During that period, it said approximately 611 kg of narcotics, including hydroponic weed, heroin and cocaine, were seized and 109 people were arrested in connection with drug trafficking.

The department described timely disposal of seized drugs and sustained enforcement as part of its efforts against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
