New Delhi, June 4: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday reviewed preparations for Kanwar Yatra 2026 during a meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat and directed officials to ensure comprehensive arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said that the registration process for Kanwar committees will commence from July 1, 2026.
Gupta stated that all concerned departments have been instructed to make necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth, safe and hassle-free journey for lakhs of Shiva devotees expected to participate in the annual Kanwar Yatra.
The review meeting focused on coordination among various departments, logistical support, public facilities and safety measures for pilgrims travelling through the national capital during the yatra period.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Delhi Government is committed to facilitating a comfortable pilgrimage experience for devotees and ensuring that all required civic and administrative support is available along the Kanwar routes.
The Kanwar Yatra is one of North India’s largest annual religious pilgrimages, during which devotees collect holy water from the Ganga River and offer it at Shiva temples during the holy month of Shravan. Delhi serves as a major transit and destination point for thousands of Kanwariyas every year.
With registrations set to begin next month, the Delhi Government is expected to issue detailed guidelines and operational plans for Kanwar committees in the coming weeks.
