Six Bangladeshi Dacoits Arrested After Encounter Near Sarai Kale Khan, Delhi

Date:

New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested six Bangladeshi dacoits following a brief exchange of fire near Sarai Kale Khan in South Delhi, Joint Police Commissioner Surender Kumar said during a media briefing.

Acting on a specific intelligence input, a team from AEKC unit of the Crime Branch laid a trap at a secluded location where the gang had assembled to execute a planned dacoity. As the police team moved in, the accused attempted to flee and opened fire, prompting a controlled retaliatory response from the officers.

Despite the threat, the police team displayed exceptional courage and successfully overpowered all six accused after the brief encounter. No casualties were reported among the police personnel.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested individuals are Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally infiltrated India. They are suspected to be involved in multiple serious crimes, including robbery, dacoity, and murder across several states such as Delhi, Goa, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and others.

During the operation, police recovered four country-made pistols, along with live and empty cartridges, a dagger, and various house-breaking tools used by the gang to commit crimes.

Officials stated that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the gang’s network and criminal activities, while efforts are being made to trace their links and past operations across states.
