New Delhi: Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended a 36-year-old man wanted in the case involving his wife’s death in Palam, while efforts to recover the alleged murder weapon continue, according to a police release dated October 4, 2026.
The Anti Gang Squad (AGS) identified the accused as Pardeep and said he was intercepted in Dwarka Sector 20 after technical surveillance and field intelligence helped trace his movements. The case concerns the death of his wife Sonia, 30, on September 27.

September 27 call led to murder case
Police said a PCR call reporting a stabbing near Kali Mata Mandir in JJ Colony, Palam, was received at 4.49 pm. Sonia was taken to Indira Gandhi Hospital, where she was declared brought dead, according to the detailed incident account in the release.
The police account alleges that Pardeep attacked her with a butcher’s knife during an argument at a biryani stall in JJ Colony, Sector 7, Dwarka. Police described the incident as arising from a matrimonial dispute. These allegations remain subject to investigation.
FIR No. 579/2026 was registered on September 27 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Palam Village police station, the release said.
Tip-off followed by surveillance
The AGS received specific information on October 2 about the wanted accused. Police said the information was verified and technical surveillance was combined with manual surveillance and local intelligence before the interception in Sector 20. The release did not give a separate date for the apprehension.
The operation was led by Inspector Krishan Kumar under ACP Bhagwati Prasad and DCP Harsh Indora. The team included Sub-Inspectors Randhawa, Agam Prasad, Mukesh, Braj Lal and Govind, along with other AGS personnel.
Weapon recovery and sequence under investigation
Police said further investigation would establish the complete sequence of events, recover the weapon allegedly used and examine the remaining circumstances. The release identified Pardeep as originally from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, and said he earned a living as a dhol player and by running a biryani stall.
