Four Youths Arrested for Armed Robbery of Wholesaler in Delhi’s Tri Nagar

Date:

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested four youths for allegedly carrying out an armed robbery in northwest Delhi’s Tri Nagar, making away with ₹92,000 in cash from a wholesale shop, officials said on Saturday.

The accused — Vijay (22), Shivam (21), Shravan (22) and Om Jee (21) — were nabbed near Nanak Piau Gurudwara in Model Town, the police said.

The robbery occurred on July 7, around 4 pm, when the group stormed into a wholesale store in Tri Nagar, held the shop owner and his associate at gunpoint and knifepoint, and fled with ₹92,000 cash along with a wallet containing identity documents.

During the arrests, police recovered a country-made pistol with two live cartridges, two knives, and a stolen motorcycle used in the commission of the crime.

A case has been registered at Keshav Puram Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, according to senior officials.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to the robbery and admitted they were motivated by the desire to make quick money. Notably, Vijay was previously booked in a similar robbery case, police added.

Authorities are now investigating whether the group was involved in other similar incidents in the area. Surveillance footage and digital trails are being analyzed to build a comprehensive timeline of events.
