Delhi Kidnapping: Accused Nabbed After Year-Long Manhunt Over Property Extortion!

Date:

NEW DELHI: Two men have been apprehended for the abduction of two brothers in Delhi, with the intention of extorting money and pressuring their family over a property dispute. The incident occurred in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi, where the accused, identified as 30-year-old Rahul and 23-year-old Ravi alias Kalu, were on the run for a year before being captured in Moti Bagh following a tip-off on Wednesday, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Aditya Gautam.

The abduction took place on June 20 last year in Madhu Vihar, where the two brothers, aged 22 and 17, were taken from their residence to Panipat in Haryana. The kidnapping was allegedly orchestrated by Rajinder alias Doctor, a notorious land grabber and neighbor of the victims’ family, who had already been apprehended.

Rahul and Ravi, along with a third accomplice, held the victims captive and demanded that their mother vacate a disputed property in Panchsheel Colony, Uttam Nagar. They also requested a ransom for the release of the brothers.

Rahul, a graduate from Panipat who relocated to Delhi in 2016 to work as a property dealer in Uttam Nagar, has a history of two prior cases registered against him at Dabri police station. Ravi, originally from Mahendragarh in Haryana, completed his Class 12 before moving to Delhi in 2024. He resided with co-accused Rajinder and has one previous case registered in Dadri, Haryana.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, with authorities working to gather more information.
