23-Year-Old Labourer Found Hanging at Masoodpur Home in Delhi, No Foul Play Suspected

Date:

New Delhi: A 23-year-old construction labourer was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence in southwest Delhi’s Masoodpur village on Saturday night, police said.

The deceased, identified as Uday Bhan, hailed from Pilshi village in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh and had moved to Delhi nearly 45 days ago along with his elder brother, Hetram. Both worked as labourers at a Delhi Metro construction site—Uday on the night shift and Hetram during the day.

According to officials, Hetram returned home from work around 10 pm and noticed through a front window that his brother had hanged himself using a muffler. He immediately alerted the authorities.

A police team from Vasant Kunj North police station rushed to the spot and shifted Bhan to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

“No signs of foul play were detected at the scene,” a senior police officer said. “There were no visible injuries or evidence of forced entry. The crime team inspected the room, and the body has been preserved at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.”

The police have registered a case of unnatural death, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the reasons behind the suicide.
