New Delhi: Authorities have served demolition notices to several residences in the Jamia Nagar area of Delhi’s Okhla, citing illegal encroachment on land owned by the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department.
The notices, dated May 22 and affixed to the affected properties, state: “This is to inform all residents that encroachment has occurred in Okhla, specifically in Khizerbaba Colony, on land belonging to the Irrigation Control Department of Uttar Pradesh. The structures, including houses and shops, are deemed illegal and must be removed within the next 15 days.”

This action follows a directive issued by the Supreme Court on May 8, which instructed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to proceed with the demolition of unauthorized structures in Okhla village in accordance with legal provisions.
