New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi carried out 24 demolition actions, sealed five properties and issued five demolition orders on October 12 as part of its drive against unauthorised construction and violations of building regulations, the civic body said.

The MCD said major demolition actions took place in Ganesh Nagar-II Extension, Shakarpur, Old Seelampur, Gandhi Nagar, New Ashok Nagar and Shakurpur JJ Colony, among other areas.

The exercise forms part of an ongoing enforcement drive across all 12 municipal zones against dangerous buildings, unauthorised construction and violations of the Master Plan of Delhi and Building Bye-Laws.

Vigilance across all 12 zones

The corporation said field officials had been directed to maintain strict vigilance and take necessary action under the applicable provisions of the Master Plan, Building Bye-Laws and other relevant regulations.

It said the drive would continue across all zones to address unauthorised construction, dangerous buildings and other violations that could threaten public safety. The corporation described compliance with building regulations and safeguarding public safety as the objectives of the enforcement exercise.
