NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) carried out 31 demolition actions, sealed five properties and issued seven demolition orders across its 12 zones during an enforcement drive on October 5, the civic body said.
The campaign targeted dangerous buildings, unauthorised construction and violations of the Delhi Master Plan and building bye-laws, according to a release from MCD’s Press and Information Directorate.
Major demolition actions were carried out in Janakpuri, Tagore Garden Extension, Saraswati Vihar, Shalimar Bagh, Shakti Nagar, Shakarpur, Gharoli Extension, Seelampur and Sant Nagar, among other areas, MCD said.
The corporation said the actions followed the prescribed rules and provisions for identified violations within its jurisdiction. It described the campaign as part of continuing efforts to ensure compliance with building norms and protect public safety.
MCD reiterated that unauthorised construction and breaches of building norms would not be tolerated. Zonal officials have been directed to maintain strict surveillance and take necessary action under the Delhi Master Plan, building bye-laws and other applicable rules.
The enforcement campaign against unauthorised construction, dangerous buildings and other violations posing risks to public safety will continue across all 12 zones, the corporation said.
