Delhi Police Arrest 23-Year-Old, Recover Two Stolen Toyota Fortuner SUVs Ahead of Independence Day

New Delhi: Delhi Police’s AATS West team arrested a 23-year-old man and recovered two allegedly stolen Toyota Fortuner SUVs carrying a fake registration number plate during an operation ahead of Independence Day.

According to the information provided, the operation was carried out on the directions of Joint Commissioner of Police Jatin Narwal under the leadership of DCP Hareshwar V. Swami, IPS.

Police said the team received information about two Toyota Fortuner vehicles moving in the National Capital Region using the same registration number. Inspector Mukesh Meena and his team examined CCTV footage and laid a field trap to trace the vehicles.

Both SUVs were intercepted within about two hours of the operation, according to the police account. The vehicles were subsequently taken to a Toyota service centre, where experts confirmed that both were stolen vehicles.

Police said one of the recovered Fortuners was wanted in connection with a case registered in Gandhi Nagar under Section 420. The source material did not provide the FIR number or further details of the case.

The arrested accused was identified as Aryan Mavi, 23, a resident of Vivek Vihar. Two Toyota Fortuner SUVs were recovered during the operation.

The AATS West team involved in the operation comprised Inspector Mukesh Meena, Sub-Inspector Gajender, Head Constables Devender, Nand Kishor and Banwari, and Constable Rameshwar.

Police said the action formed part of enforcement efforts ahead of Independence Day.
