Delhi Government’s ‘Mission Kayakalp’ Upgrades Schools; Child Safety, Smart Toilets and STEM Labs in Focus

Date:

New Delhi, July 12: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that the Delhi Government’s Mission Kayakalp is laying the foundation for a new era in school education by upgrading infrastructure, strengthening child safety and introducing modern learning facilities across government schools.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said that while students were enjoying their summer vacation, the government utilised the period to improve school infrastructure.

As part of the initiative, every District Magistrate (DM) was assigned the responsibility of transforming two schools by upgrading essential facilities, including sanitation, drinking water systems and other basic infrastructure.

Rekha Gupta said the initiative is aimed at ensuring that students return to schools equipped with cleaner, safer and more conducive learning environments.

Highlighting child safety, the Chief Minister said that with POCSO Awareness Month currently being observed, principals of all government and private schools have been directed to review compliance with the prescribed child safety checklist.

The exercise is intended to further strengthen safety mechanisms and ensure a secure learning environment for every student, she said.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the role of partnerships between the Delhi Government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partners in modernising educational infrastructure.

According to the post, AI-integrated smart toilet blocks, STEM Innovation Labs and modern computer laboratories are being developed in schools to promote technology-driven learning and improve students’ overall educational experience.

Rekha Gupta said the objective of Mission Kayakalp is to ensure that every child studies in an environment that inspires confidence, curiosity and excellence, while providing access to improved infrastructure and modern educational resources.

The Delhi Government said the initiative reflects its broader commitment to improving the quality of public education and creating safer, more inclusive and technology-enabled schools across the national capital.
