Big Health Scam Exposed! Expired Dabur, Vicks, Glucon-D Repacked and Sold as Fresh in Delhi

Date:

New Delhi: In a major operation safeguarding public health, the Eastern Range-I of the Crime Branch, Delhi Police, has busted a racket involved in tampering, relabeling, and reselling expired food and cosmetic products as fresh stock in the open market.

Acting on credible intelligence, a team led by Inspector Ashish Sharma conducted a raid at a godown in Jagatpur, Delhi. During the operation, the accused, Omprakash Sharma (40), a resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was found allegedly operating an illegal setup where expired products were systematically altered for resale.

Investigators revealed that the accused was storing large quantities of expired goods, chemically removing original expiry dates and batch numbers, reprinting fresh manufacturing and expiry details, and repacking the items to make them appear genuine. These tampered products were then allegedly supplied to unsuspecting buyers in the retail market.

Police said the organized activity was designed to generate illegal profits while posing serious risks to public health, particularly as the items included antiseptics, nutritional supplements, personal care products, and food materials.

Among the major recoveries were branded daily-use items such as Nestle Sugar Free, Glucon-D, Dabur Gulabari Body Lotion and Rose Water, Clean & Clear Face Wash, Vicks Vaporub, Dabur Lal Tail, Odomos, Olive Oil, Dabur Chyawanprash, and Savlon Antiseptic. Printing frames, labeling materials, and machinery used to alter expiry and manufacturing details were also seized from the premises.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 35/2026 at Police Station Crime Branch under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Trade Marks Act. The accused has been arrested following due legal procedure.

According to DCP (Crime-II) Vikram Singh, IPS, the prompt action of the Crime Branch prevented large-scale circulation of hazardous expired products in Delhi and adjoining areas. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the expired stock, identify suppliers and distributors, and uncover the complete supply chain network. More arrests are likely as the probe progresses.
