Date:

New Delhi: In a shocking incident from the national capital, a woman was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh area, triggering panic among local residents. The deceased has been identified as Rachna Yadav, a resident of the area.

According to preliminary information, the attackers opened fire at close range, killing her on the spot. Police teams rushed to the location immediately after receiving information and sealed the crime scene for investigation.

What has added a chilling dimension to the case is that Rachna Yadav’s husband, Bijender Yadav, was also murdered in 2023, reportedly in a similar manner. CCTV footage related to her husband’s killing had surfaced at that time, and the case was believed to be linked to personal enmity and local rivalry.

Police sources say Rachna Yadav was associated with the local Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA), and her husband had several criminal cases registered against him earlier. Investigators are now probing whether the current murder is connected to past rivalries or whether a new motive is involved.

Multiple CCTV cameras installed in and around the locality are being examined to trace the movement of the attackers and identify suspects. Forensic teams have also collected evidence from the spot.

Senior police officials confirmed that all possible angles—including revenge killing, gang rivalry, and personal enmity—are being investigated. No arrests have been made so far.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Shalimar Bagh neighbourhood, with residents expressing fear over the recurrence of violent crime involving the same family.

Further developments are awaited as the investigation continues.
