DMRC Revises Metro Timings for Diwali: Last Train to Run Till 10 PM on Monday, Early Morning Services Announced

Date:

New Delhi: On the occasion of Diwali, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a change in metro operation timings across all lines in the national capital to ensure smooth festive travel and better crowd management.

According to the official update shared on DMRC’s X (Twitter) handle, metro train services will begin early in the morning and conclude earlier than usual on Monday, October 20, 2025, when Diwali will be celebrated.

As per the revised schedule, the last metro train from all terminal stations—including the Airport Express Line—will operate at 10:00 PM, instead of the regular 11:30 PM to midnight schedule.

Focus on Passenger Convenience and Staff Welfare

DMRC officials said that the change has been made keeping in view the high commuter volume expected during Diwali as people travel across the city for family gatherings, puja ceremonies, and shopping.

“Metro services will start early in the morning and the last train will depart at 10 PM on Diwali night. Regular operations will resume from the following day,” the corporation stated in its official message.

Normal Operations to Resume Post-Diwali

From Tuesday, October 21, metro operations will return to their usual schedule across all lines, including the Pink, Magenta, Grey, and Airport Express routes.

Authorities have urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance, given the expected rush in markets and public transport systems during the festival. With massive crowds across shopping areas and heavy road congestion, Delhi Metro remains the most reliable and efficient transport mode for Diwali travellers.
