Massive Crowd in Chandni Chowk Ahead of Diwali — Police, RAF Step Up Security with Metal Detectors and Commandos on Watchtowers

Date:

New Delhi: As the Diwali shopping rush peaks, Chandni Chowk, one of Delhi’s oldest and busiest markets, has turned into a sea of people. Known for its electronics shops and Diwali essentials, the area is witnessing a heavy influx of shoppers just days before the festival of lights.

With such massive crowds, ensuring public safety and crowd management has become a top priority for law enforcement. Delhi Police, in coordination with the Rapid Action Force (RAF), has intensified security measures across the market.

Personnel from the RAF were seen patrolling the lanes, while police officers monitored movement at entry and exit points equipped with metal detectors. To enhance vigilance, commandos have been stationed atop watchtowers and vantage points to oversee the crowd flow and identify any suspicious activity.

Authorities are ensuring that only a limited number of people enter narrow lanes at a time to prevent overcrowding. The coordination between the Delhi Police and RAF units aims to maintain order, prevent stampedes, and avert any potential terror threats during the festive period.

Senior officials stated that multiple security drills and surveillance checks have been conducted to ensure smooth celebrations across the capital’s busiest markets.

The Delhi Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with security personnel, avoid carrying large bags, and remain cautious in crowded areas.
