Frequent Fights Inside Delhi Metro Raise Safety Concerns — Viral Videos Spark Questions Over CISF and DMRC Security Measures

Date:

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro, known as the lifeline of the national capital, is once again in the spotlight — but this time for the wrong reasons. A video showing two passengers fighting inside a packed metro coach has gone viral on social media, reigniting concerns over passenger safety and the absence of visible security action inside the trains.

The viral clip shows a metro coach filled beyond capacity, where two young men begin arguing over an unknown issue. The altercation quickly turns violent — one man grabs the other by the collar, punches follow, and both fall onto the floor, grappling and hitting each other as frightened commuters move away.

Witnesses can be seen trying to separate the duo, while other passengers record the incident. The fight becomes so intense that one man’s shirt buttons are torn off during the scuffle.

Rising Incidents, No Visible Action

Such fights, often over seats, crowding, or verbal spats, have become disturbingly common inside Delhi Metro trains. What’s worse, many of these videos — now regularly circulating online — are being treated as mere entertainment, rather than a serious safety issue affecting thousands of daily commuters.

Commuters are now questioning the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) officials over their apparent inaction. “The faces of those fighting are clearly visible in these videos, yet no action is taken. This lack of accountability only encourages more such incidents,” said a regular metro commuter.

Security Measures Under Scrutiny

The Delhi Metro has a dedicated CISF security force, along with station surveillance teams and CCTV monitoring. However, passengers claim that security personnel are rarely seen inside the coaches, where most of these altercations take place.

Experts suggest that deploying security staff in each coach or increasing patrolling between stations could help prevent such incidents. “If people know that uniformed personnel are present inside, it would act as a deterrent,” a security consultant noted.

The recent spate of brawls inside Delhi Metro trains has raised urgent questions about crowd management, law enforcement, and public discipline in one of India’s busiest transport networks.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the latest viral video, but commuters say stronger monitoring and swift action against offenders is now the need of the hour.
