New Delhi, August 16: A tragic road accident in Delhi’s Moti Nagar claimed the life of a bike rider late Thursday night after a Thar SUV rammed into his motorcycle. The victim, identified as Rohit Bechulal, died on the spot after being thrown forward into a truck moving ahead, police said.
According to eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage, the impact of the collision was so severe that Bechulal’s motorcycle was dragged under the truck. Local residents alerted authorities, and police immediately rushed to the spot. However, Bechulal succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The SUV driver abandoned the damaged Thar at the spot and fled, police confirmed. Both the Thar and the truck involved in the accident have been seized. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Moti Nagar Police Station.
“We have recovered CCTV footage from nearby cameras and identified the accused. An FIR has been lodged and efforts are underway to nab him at the earliest,” a senior police officer said.
Police officials confirmed that the accused has been traced and a manhunt is on. The seized Thar bore visible damage from the crash, and the investigation is focusing on negligence and rash driving.
The fatal collision in Delhi’s Moti Nagar has once again raised concerns about overspeeding and reckless driving on city roads.
