Notorious gangster Salman Tyagi found dead in Delhi’s Mandoli Jail, suspected suicide sparks investigation

Date:

New Delhi: A sensational case of suspected suicide has emerged from Delhi’s Mandoli Jail, where notorious gangster Salman Tyagi was found hanging in his prison cell.

According to prison authorities, Tyagi was discovered in Cell No. 15, where he had allegedly used a bedsheet to hang himself. The incident sent shockwaves through the jail administration, with senior officials rushing to the spot and initiating an immediate probe.

Salman Tyagi, who was lodged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), faced multiple cases including murder, extortion, and Arms Act violations. His criminal record had marked him as one of the more dreaded gangsters operating in Delhi-NCR.

Officials confirmed that preliminary inquiries have begun, though the exact reason behind Tyagi’s extreme step remains unclear. “The circumstances under which he decided to take this step are still being investigated. A detailed report will be prepared,” said a senior jail officer.

The body has been preserved for post-mortem, and the matter is under thorough investigation to rule out any foul play.

This case has once again raised questions about security lapses and mental health monitoring in Delhi prisons, as the suicide of a high-profile gangster inside a high-security jail is likely to draw sharp scrutiny.
