Wall Collapse Near Delhi LG House Kills Woman and Son, Two Injured After Heavy Rain

Date:

New Delhi: A tragic rain-induced incident near the Lieutenant Governor’s residence in Delhi’s Civil Lines claimed the lives of a 40-year-old woman and her 17-year-old son after the boundary wall of an under-construction building collapsed on Tuesday morning, officials confirmed.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, the control room received a distress call at around 9:53 am reporting the wall collapse. Rescue teams rushed to the site and discovered four people trapped under the debris.

The deceased were identified as Meera (40) and her teenage son Ganpath (17). Two others—Meera’s elder son Dashrath (19) and another man Nanhe (35)—were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Fire officials attributed the wall collapse to weakened structural conditions caused by continuous rainfall in the national capital over the past few days.

Authorities are investigating whether construction safety norms were violated at the site. The local administration is expected to submit a detailed report.
