Two Arrested for Mobile Theft During Himesh Reshammiya’s Packed Delhi Concert; Stolen Phones Recovered

New Delhi: Two individuals were arrested for allegedly stealing mobile phones during a crowded concert by singer Himesh Reshammiya at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, police said on Monday.

The accused, Wasim (36) and Mohammad Tayyab (33), were apprehended by plainclothes officers who had been strategically deployed at the venue to monitor suspicious activity and ensure public safety, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan.

The concert, held on the night of July 20, saw a significant crowd turnout. During the event, two separate cases of phone theft were reported by female attendees.

“In the first incident, a woman from Faridabad reported that her phone was stolen sometime between 8 pm and 10 pm,” said DCP Valsan. Based on technical surveillance and local intelligence, police tracked down Wasim and recovered the stolen mobile phone from his possession.

In the second case, another woman from C R Park reported the theft of her phone between 10:20 pm and 11 pm. Following similar surveillance procedures, officers located and arrested Mohammad Tayyab, also recovering the stolen device.

Both suspects are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway to determine if they are linked to additional cases of theft.
