Delhi Chief Minister Reviews Yamuna River Cleanup Efforts, Pushes for Riverfront Revamp

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta led an inspection on Thursday of several large drains and the Yamuna river stretch at Wazirabad barrage. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing work on the riverfront project to enhance the city’s infrastructure.

Accompanying the Chief Minister were LG VK Saxena, Water Minister Parvesh Verma, and officials from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department.

During her visit, the Chief Minister meticulously reviewed the ongoing efforts to clean the river and urged officials to concentrate on the Yamuna riverfront project. This initiative aims to develop walking tracks and recreational areas along the river’s length, enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal.

The cleaning of the Yamuna river is a significant commitment made by the BJP party, demonstrating their dedication to environmental preservation.

Gupta also toured the supplementary drain at Wazirabad, Barapullah drain, Sunheri Pul drain, and Kushk drain, where she evaluated the progress of ongoing desilting projects.
