Delhi Assembly Sets Up Financial Panels to Scrutinize CAG Reports

Date:

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Assembly has established three financial panels, including the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), to scrutinize recent reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). Speaker Vijender Gupta announced the uncontested election of members to these panels, which also include the Committee on Government Undertakings and the Committee on Estimates.

The PAC, comprised of six BJP MLAs and three AAP members, will investigate the CAG reports on health, air pollution, excise, finance, and appropriation accounts. Specifically, they will focus on the finance and appropriation accounts of the previous AAP government, highlighting issues such as non-submission of bills and utilization certificates worth hundreds of crores.

The Committee on Government Undertakings, with a similar composition of members from both parties, will delve into the CAG report on the performance of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) during the AAP regime. This report has uncovered operational losses amounting to Rs 14,000 crore incurred by the public transporter in the national capital.

These committees play a crucial role in ensuring transparency and accountability in the financial management of the Delhi government. Their investigations and recommendations will help improve governance and financial practices for the benefit of the citizens of Delhi.

The members of the Estimates Committee include Gajendra Singh Yadav, Harish Khurana, Kulwant Rana, Poonam Sharma, Sanjay Goyal, and Sandeep Sehrawat from the BJP, as well as Imran Hussain, Som Dutt, and Vishesh Ravi from AAP.
