Delhi CM Rekha Gupta inaugurates new ‘Jan Seva Sadan’ at official bungalow for public interaction

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inaugurated her new camp office, named ‘Jan Seva Sadan’, at Bungalow No. 2 on Raj Niwas Marg, which will now serve as her primary public grievance and outreach centre. Meanwhile, Bungalow No. 1 has been designated as her official residence.

During the inauguration, BJP ministers, MLAs, and other dignitaries extended their wishes. Speaking to the media from the newly opened CM office, Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party, alleging that unlike the previous regime, the BJP-led government is promoting transparency and accessibility.

“This office is open to the media from day one. No part of this building is off-limits,” Mishra said, showcasing the modest furnishings. Pointing to a curtain inside the CM’s office, he said, “This curtain costs less than the ones in Kejriwal’s so-called ‘Sheesh Mahal’. The entire office, including ACs, printers, furniture and sofas, has been set up for less than the cost of one of their curtains. That’s the contrast between BJP’s governance and AAP’s extravagance.”

Responding to AAP’s allegation of ₹60 lakh being spent on the office, Mishra challenged media to verify every item—from ACs to TVs—and said the actual cost is far lower than AAP’s lavish renovations at their CM bungalow, which allegedly ran into ₹80 crore.

The Jan Seva Sadan is designed for direct public interaction, with seating for citizens and a dedicated setup for grievance hearings. Earlier, Rekha Gupta conducted public hearings from her constituency residence in Shalimar Bagh, but with this shift, the CM will now meet citizens officially from her government-allotted bungalow on Raj Niwas Marg.

A puja and havan ceremony was held to mark the opening. From today, public meetings at the new office will officially commence.
