New Delhi: Students, volunteers and residents joined a Yamuna cleanup drive across 70 ghats in Delhi on Sunday under the Swachh Yamuna Prahari campaign, the Delhi Jal Board said.
At the Old Railway Bridge Yamuna Ghat, participants joined cleaning activities in the presence of the Water Minister. The campaign focuses on removing litter from the riverbanks and encouraging residents to take responsibility for keeping the Yamuna clean.

Students and volunteers take part
The Jal Board said school and college students and other young volunteers were participating in the drive alongside residents. It described the exercise as an effort to combine cleaning work with greater public awareness about the river.
Photographs shared with the update show participants carrying collection bags and wearing gloves during the cleanup.
From public appeal to action at the ghats
The drive follows the October 18 cleanup invitation to Delhi residents. Sunday’s activities take that public appeal to the ghats, with waste removal and citizen participation at the centre of the campaign.
The Jal Board said the aim was to remove garbage scattered along the ghats, increase awareness of cleanliness and involve citizens in protecting the Yamuna.
