New Delhi: Samaypur Badli police arrested a 26-year-old man near Sector 18, Rohini, on October 11 and recovered a country-made pistol, a live cartridge and a stolen motorcycle, the Outer North District police said.
The man was identified as Sachin, a resident of Yadav Nagar in Libaspur. According to police, the motorcycle he was riding was linked to a theft case registered at North Rohini police station on October 3.
A patrolling team noticed the rider on the service road near DDA land and Utsav Apartments in Sector 18. He was approaching from the Badli Underpass side and allegedly tried to flee on seeing the officers, the police release said.
Officers intercepted him and questioned him about his attempt to leave. Police said a search of his person led to the recovery of the pistol and cartridge. A subsequent check established that the motorcycle had been stolen, according to the release.
Arms Act case registered
An Arms Act case was registered at Samaypur Badli police station on October 11, and Sachin was arrested. The team was led by Inspector Shailender Singh Jakhar and included Head Constable Raju Ram and Constable Ashok.
Police said Sachin had previously been involved in 20 criminal cases. That figure refers to cases cited by police and does not establish convictions in those matters.
Investigators are examining his possible involvement in other vehicle thefts and illegal possession of firearms. Police said they were also trying to identify any associates and determine whether a wider network was involved.
