New Delhi: Jantar Mantar has been removed from Delhi’s designated venues for protests and demonstrations, with Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi named as the three replacement sites.
The change is set out in Standing Order No. L&O/48/2026, signed by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar and dated October 11, 2026. It changes the venue arrangement under the earlier order of April 28, 2022.

Three grounds replace Jantar Mantar
The order says the Ministry of Home Affairs constituted a committee to examine alternative suitable venues where citizens could exercise their right to organise protests and demonstrations in place of the existing designated site.
Based on that committee’s recommendations, Jantar Mantar has been de-notified as a protest venue. The three newly designated locations are Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground, East Delhi.
Separate guidelines for new venues
Detailed and revised standard operating procedures for organising protests and demonstrations at these three grounds will be issued separately, the order states.
The document describes the change as a partial modification of Standing Order No. L&O/48/22, dated April 28, 2022. It does not set out the new venues’ permission timelines, crowd limits or operating hours, and gives no expiry date for the change.
