New Delhi: Safer public transport, expanded CCTV surveillance and identification of poorly lit areas were among the measures Chief Minister Rekha Gupta outlined at a women’s safety meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office.
The discussions covered safer workplaces, effective support mechanisms, institutional accountability and coordination between departments. Gupta presented Delhi’s ongoing measures and future priorities, including stronger women’s assistance services.

The CMO said the interventions were aimed at making public spaces safer, providing timely assistance and improving women’s confidence in everyday mobility.
The meeting also addressed women’s protection, dignity and empowerment. The Delhi government described women’s safety as a governance priority and linked the measures to its approach to women-led development.
