Delhi Secures Assured Water Supply from Haryana as CM Rekha Gupta Reviews Summer Water Management

Date:

New Delhi, May 30: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of the city’s water supply and water management systems during a high-level meeting of the Delhi Jal Board, amid rising temperatures and increasing water demand across the national capital.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister said Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had assured Delhi of a minimum supply of 1,000 cusecs of water through the Munak Canal, providing relief as the city battles peak summer conditions.

Gupta directed officials to take immediate measures to prevent water leakage and strengthen the water distribution network to ensure efficient supply across Delhi.

The Delhi Government is also expanding its rainwater harvesting initiative to 75 CM Shri Schools as part of its long-term strategy to improve water conservation and sustainability.

Reviewing the summer preparedness plan, the Chief Minister was informed that more than 980 water tankers are currently deployed across the city, carrying out over 6,000 trips daily to ensure uninterrupted water supply in areas facing shortages.

The meeting was attended by Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, Delhi Jal Board Vice-Chairman Satish Upadhyay, board member Ajay Mahawar and senior officials from the concerned departments.

The Delhi Government said it remains committed to strengthening water infrastructure, improving distribution efficiency and ensuring adequate water availability for residents during the ongoing summer season.
