New Delhi: A suspected gang-related murder plan allegedly involving a recently released member of the Tillu Tajpuriya gang was foiled by the AATS team of Outer North District, with two men arrested and two illegal firearms along with five live rounds recovered, police said.
According to police, the operation began after specific information was received on October 13 that 26-year-old Yogesh, who had recently been released from jail and was stated to be associated with the Tillu Tajpuriya gang, would arrive near a school at Naya Baans on Main Holambi Road carrying an illegal firearm.
Police said the information further indicated that Yogesh allegedly intended to target a rival gang member who had also recently been released on bail.
A dedicated raiding team led by Inspector Anand Kumar Jha, in-charge of AATS, Outer North District, was constituted after the information was shared with senior officers.
The team included SI Dimpy Gulia, ASI Azhar Anwar Zaidi, ASI Naresh, Head Constable Deepak, Head Constable Netram and Constable Sachin.
Police personnel were deployed around the location to keep surveillance and cover possible escape routes.
After the informer identified the suspect, police moved to apprehend him. According to the police account, Yogesh attempted to run towards the school but was chased and overpowered after a brief struggle.
During his search, police said one illegal pistol was recovered from the right pocket of his lower garment. The magazine contained five live rounds of 7.65 mm calibre.
Yogesh, son of Rajbir and a resident of Swatantra Nagar, Narela, was arrested. Police said he has previous involvement in multiple criminal cases, including robbery and offences under the Arms Act.
A case, FIR No. 574/2026 dated October 14, was registered at Narela Industrial Area Police Station under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
Second Weapon Recovered From Rohini
Police said further questioning of Yogesh led to information about another firearm that he had allegedly handed over about a week earlier to his associate Rajesh alias Chaku at Shahbad Dairy.
According to the disclosure cited by police, the country-made pistol had been concealed at Rajesh’s residence in Rohini.
Acting on the information, the AATS team raided premises in Sector 20, Rohini, where Rajesh alias Chaku, 26, son of Ramlal, was found present.
During a search of the house, police said a country-made pistol was recovered from a drawer of a wooden bed on the third floor.
Rajesh was also arrested in the case.
Police Probe Intended Target and Firearm Supply
The recoveries comprise one illegal pistol with five live 7.65 mm rounds allegedly seized from Yogesh and one country-made pistol recovered from Rajesh’s residence.
Police said further investigation is underway to identify the source and supply chain of the firearms, verify the intended target and establish the circumstances surrounding the suspected gang rivalry.
Investigators are also examining whether other associates were involved and whether the two accused have links to additional criminal activity.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP/Operations Dinesh Kumar and the guidance of Additional DCP-I, Outer North District, Lokeshwaran R.
