Delhi Police Arrests Proclaimed Offender in 2013 Shalimar Bagh Case

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has apprehended a 40-year-old man declared a proclaimed offender in a 2013 case registered at Shalimar Bagh police station, tracing him through technical surveillance and field verification, according to a police release.

Police identified the man as Rinku, a resident of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. He had been declared a proclaimed offender by a court in FIR No. 32/13, registered under Sections 279 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code at Shalimar Bagh police station.

The proclaimed-offender staff of the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS), Outer North District, combined digital intelligence with ground-level information to locate him. Police said he had been evading arrest after the court declaration.

The team comprised ASI Sandeep and Head Constable Abhishek Khatri. It worked under Inspector Anand Kumar Jha, in charge of AATS, and the supervision of ACP/Operations Dinesh Kumar.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional DCP-I Lokeshwaran R and directions of Northern Range Joint Commissioner Vijay Singh, the release said.

Police also reported one previous involvement against Rinku.
