Delhi Warns of FIRs Over Illegal Posters, Orders Departments to Clear Waste Before Diwali

Date:

New Delhi: Illegal posters and hoardings that deface public property will invite FIRs, the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office said after Rekha Gupta chaired a meeting of department heads at the Delhi Secretariat.

The Chief Minister directed all departments to remove waste and debris from their premises and the areas under their responsibility before Diwali, according to the CMO’s announcement.

The directions cover both the condition of government premises and the upkeep of public spaces ahead of the festival. The CMO said public spaces must remain clean and violations would face legal action.

In its October 16 post, the CMO cited the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act and applicable rules in connection with action against illegal posters and hoardings.

The announcement sets out directions issued at the meeting; it does not provide a count of FIRs registered or specify completed enforcement actions under this latest instruction.
